Weekend Round Up…

No crafty pictures to share from the weekend, we were much too busy doing other stuff! My parents took the kiddiewinks on Saturday which gave me the day to do some chores….this meant spring cleaning the boys bedroom….a job best done when the boy is not home…lol, I pulled out all the furniture, cleaned everywhere, changed it all around, organised and chucked out stuff….it looks so much better now and he loved the “new look” when he returned home that evening. I also had the time to gut the bathroom too, put up some pretties and a new shower curtain, all those little jobs you never get around to!

Sunday started with Mass, it was a lovely one too for Pentecost Sunday, lovely uplifting hymns all made perfect by the glorious sunshine. We arrived home just before lunch, so a quick bite to eat in the garden before the kids started their play….I then set to my playing….baking….whilst listening to Dolly Parton and Country Greats!

First is a recipe I found on Lucy’s blog, it’s her own adaptation of a recipe, which is delicious, it’s like a banana flapjack with seeds and dried fruit, I used sesame and sunflower seeds, raisins and cranberries…it’s delicious…

Secondly an old favourite…banana muffins… these are heading to school for the Big Bake Sale in aid of an orphanage in Malawi which the school has a relationship with!

Thirdly another Lucy inspired bake, I’ve been meaning to do these for a while, I used the recipe I found here on BBC Good Food and again made a few small changes…I used cranberries and raisins instead of sultanas as that is what I had in the store cupboard….and I have to say they are scrummy!

I also baked a quiche for dinner this evening…forgot to take a snap of that though!

When we were all played out…it was BBQ time for dinner…just a simple burgers and sausages tea…perfect end with hands food, to sit in the garden…followed by warm apple muffins….perfect!

Just a few pictures of the kiddiewinks enjoying the sun (excuse my messy garden, it’s a work in progress….the front of the house is done…but the back isn’t quite there yet!)

Well there you go…no stitching or crocheting to show…but still a fun time was had by us all…enjoy your week…the sun is set to stay for a few more days at least!

Stash, Baking, Chef in Training & 2 Finishes

My sale stash from Sew and So arrived yesterday, I was very restrained and just ordered some jingle bells and a few threads, some Dragon Floss, WDW, Valdani and Needlepoint Silks, they were all half price so a good bargain. I also ordered a couple of peices of fabric from Karla at The Patchwork Rabbit, they also arrived yesterday.

I had an abundance of banana’s going a little ripe (I hate them ripe) so I made a couple of banana loaves one for us and one for my parents…yummy!

I have a little kitchen helper now, whenever I head into the kitchen she is my little shadow, following me around and wanting to help..today she wanted to help with the vegetables for the Sunday Roast….a little chef in the making I think!

I finally finished up my iStitch Sew Mystery box….my Dad has had it for the past couple of months varnishing it, to be fair he sanded it, primed it, and varnished it 3 times, he did a great job!

I lined the inside with a fabric I found in the Viking Loom and trimmed it with an ivory/cream cord..the top I also edged in the same cord…I have burnt finger ends this evening from the hot glue gun :0(, there is a matching pin pillow which I have stitched but I haven’t finished that up as yet but will do soon!

Another of Carol’s lovely designs is my first Christmas Ornament finish for my year long personal SAL, I also used my corder for the first time and made matching cord with the DMC thread I used to stitch…I don;t know why I’ve not done it before….easy peasy!

Some Days…

…..one of these is definitely required…
SDC11737
Good news…Martha is getting better, she has eaten petit filous and cheerios this morning and is drinking, she is playing and chatting a little more, but is still needing a little rest on the sofa every so often.
I started stitching on my TSG SAL piece last night…I am quite pleased with my progress, I sat stitching whilst watching the NTA’s with the gorgeous Dermot O’Leary (gosh couldn’t you just take him home with you!), a Rose Garden tea in my CK cup and saucer and a brownie…perfect!SDC11746  My third PIF gift is being mailed tomorrow…who can it be going to? I wonder!!
