"Almost" Happy Dances.....

The reason I say almost is that I have completed my Baby Sampler...apart from the date of course....I have now received a date for my caesarean which is Friday 21st November, but the little lady may decide she wants to make an appearance earlier than that....so we still are on tenderhooks. Almost everything is ready now for her arrival, cot and Moses basket ready, my hospital case all packed, nappies and muslin sheets all washed (yes I am being "green" and using real nappies).

The sampler is a Judy Whitman design based on American quilts, I stitched it on baby pink 28c Jobelan in DMC threads in lilacs, mauves and peppermint green, I am pleased how it is looking. Once the date is stitched on it, I intend to make it into a quilted wall hanging and have decided to use Cath Kidston Ballerina fabric. The reason I used DMC for this project was so I could make a wall hanging and not have to worry when it needed to be washed.

Now onto October goals, I am delighted to announce that I acheived every single goal this month....

Happy Holly.....

Here is my 4th Christmas Ornament of the month...I am delighted as I aimed to make 4 this month and have acheived this!! It is one of the Lizzie*Kate Christmas Double Flips 2008, I haven' t stitched the full design, just the words, holly leaves and border.

I have backed it with Rose & Hubble fabric, which I had in my fabbie drawer and finished into a pinkeep, the ribbon is lovely too, red with gold dots on it, so is really Christmassy and red pins.

I also finished my Autumn Exchange peice for the Stitch & Stash forum today too, of which I can't show you a picture of for quite a while, reveal/opening day is 2nd November.....so a long wait is required!!

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments about my Cath Kidston goodies, for those of you who want to...you can order online from her website and there is also a list of all her shop locations too....maybe I should ask her for commission for getting everyone so interested in these tins...lol!!

I can't decide whether to stitch on my PAP sampler or the baby sampler tonight...I will see how I feel a little later when I get the chance to sit down.

Miserable Monday

This is what I wish I was looking at this morning...but instead it was raining, dark and miserable...oh well at least I have come straight back home from dropping the little man off and cleaned the downstairs...so that is all clean and tidy...I can sit and stitch and make up now, without feeling guilty...lol!!

I managed to do some stitching over the weekend, I had quite a few hours to myself on Saturday as it was DS's Saturday out with Daddy, so I managed to get half way through Part 3 of the PAP sampler...so I will do somemore of that today..I would like to get Part 3 finished this month.

My cousin is over from Oz at the moment and was in York for the weekend so we all went over to my parent's on Saturday evening to see her, which was lovely. We do keep in touch over Facebook, but it was lovely to see her in the "flesh". Just a shame she could only do a few days here.

Yesterday was a "proper Sunday...a full day of rest", I managed to make up my Monthly Challenge peice for the Stitch & Stash forum...the reveal date is 27th September...so I cannot post a picture until then for you to see. I also started and completed the stitching for the Autumn Exchange peice on the Stitch & Stash Forum too, which I was really delighted to do...even though I am having troubles with my thumb on my right hand, it is very stiff and sore sometimes in the knuckle joint and feels sometimes as though it is "stuck" I just massage it and it seems to ease it....unfortunately I can't take an anti-inflamatories being pregnant so I am having to suffer at the moment. I have got lots of dry skin and cracks on the tips of the same thumb and the first 2 fingers of the same hand....not sure what is causing it...I use decent hand moisturiser all the time..it is annoying as sometimes my thread snags on it...ouch!!

I also signed up for the Halloween Exchange too on the S&S forum...so I have plenty to keep me busy....lol. I need to stitch another Christmas Ornament this week too...I am going to do one of the L*K Double Flips Christmas 2008 ones I think.

I hope my fabbie order will arrive today so I can make a start on my little handmade Christmas Gifts too.

Ah well best go and sort some washing out and put some more in the tumble drier....

Thank Crunchie it's Friday!!

It has been a busy one this week, more on the home front rather than the doctors and stitching front. Saying that....I did manage to complete part two of the PAP sampler...finally!! I re-started this about 3 months ago as I decided that I wanted to challenge myself with the speciality stitch version, yes it is taking me a little longer, but I think it will be worth it in the end!! I am stitching it with DMC threads and I am loving the colours I have chosen.

On the home front, I think nesting has started....I did some DIY yesterday...well now I am on my own, if I don't do it, then it won't get done. I put up some coat hook strips, drilled the walls, used a spirit level the whole shibang...I was rather proud of myself...and so was my mum who saw them today. I have put one in the hallways for coats and bags and one in the kitchen for aprons, towels etc. I also fixed up some voile curtains in the front windows in my bedroom, which are still there today :0). Today I took down both pairs of my bedroom curtains and washed them...I will iron and pop them back up tomorrow morning after cleaning the windows....lol!

I managed to put my charts into some semblance of order, I have so many Lizzie*Kate and SMO charts, they have a folder each, the others are all sorted and on the bookcase for ease of access. The next tasks are to sort all of the young master's toys out so that I can bring the pram into the house and clean it up ready for baby's arrival. Then all my cardmaking things are going to be organised...I am going to sell the majority of it, the half used items I will give to DS's school to use and also a couple of local charities, I will probably do a few giveaways on my blog too...so keep reading if you are a papercrafter.

My exciting news is that I have signed up for the Olde Willow Stitchery "My Sampler Accessories Huswif" 2009 class & SAL, so I now have two exciting new projects for 2009 to look forward to...but that will be all I sign up to do, I don't want to over subscribe myself...lol

Well I hope to have some stitchy piccies to show you after the weekend...until then...

It's Tuesday!!

Yes I know....not a thrilling title but I couldn't think of anything more exciting to call this post.

Just a quick update from me after the mammoth photo post last time, I have finally started to make some headway on the Patchwork Baby Sampler, which obviously I want to have all done apart from names, date and weight, by the time baby bump arrives, I am stitching this on 28c Jobelan in Baby Pink, in DMC threads, I have substituted the blues for lilacs, but am still using a pale green to break it up. I have decided that I will either make this into a pillow or a quilted wall hanging. I have spent Sunday and Monday on this so will pop it away for a few days and crack on with the PAP sampler as I have just received part 9 and I have yet to complete part 2...saying that I did re-start it after I decided to do the speciality stitch version instead.

I think a my have a slight amount of nesting starting as I went shopping today in the sole intention of purchasing, ring binders, dividers and hole re-enforcements...yes the time has come to catalogue my charts....arghhhhhhh!!! I am still deciding how to do this...I think I will do them into themes (needlerolls, biscornus, samplers etc) but then also have a folder or 2 for designs as I have hundreds of freebies etc...I have 4 folders to start with...so we will see how I get on, I am heading into town again on Thursday for a chiropody treatment so I can always purchase a couple more folders then if needed. I know this will turn into a mammoth stash sort, which really is a good thing...so watch out there may be a sale coming soon...lol

Autumnal Finish

Here are a few pictures of my latest finish, it is for the Autumn Exchange on the X-Stitch Monthly Group, it is now on it's way to Gaynor in Ireland, I know that she does not read my blog so I am safe to pop the pictures up for you to see.

The design is a SanMan Originals Freebie called Autumn Spendor, it is stitched on 28c Annabelle in cream and stitched with the recommended Six Strand Sweet threads in Green Tea Ice-Cream, Spiced Orange Cider, Toffee, Sandy's Autumn Splendor & Spice Drop.

I backed the design with some pretty checked fabric in greens and oranges which I purchased from the little stitching shop in Gavray, France back in May, when on my stitching weekend and edged it with orange and green satin ribbon and gold and green pearl topped pins. I do hope Gaynor enjoys the pinkeep as much as I did stitching and finishing it for her.

I have managed to stick quite well to my rotation this past week, I did start doing some of my Papillion Sampler but I was so tired I only managed to complete a few flowers and I was away at Dave's on Saturday night so did not manage to get any stitching in then. I have been very tired this past week though, I think it was to do with getting back into the routine of getting up early for school and doing lots of housework as being honest I hadn't done hardly anything during the holidays, but I managed to crack on and get everything up to date, so now all I need to do is a little each day to keep on top of it.

I am about 2/3 through the stitching on the Stitch & Stash Monthly Challenge, I hopefully should complete that and finish it this week, then onto another small exchange peice.

I am excited as I have joined the Needleprint Beatrix Potter Quaker SAL Blog, I have been looking to start a traditional sampler for the past couple of years and when I saw this on Julie's blog, I went all giddy as it is just "up my street", so I contacted Hazel who has set up the blog and she has very kindly allowed me to join, I have emailed Jacqueline to purchase the chart, so finger's crossed I will receive an email back. I have an idea on the colours I will use for this, but I will keep that under wraps until I have made a firm decision.

Well enough of my waffles, time to carry on with some stitching before collecting the little master from school. Wishing everyone a great week.

Napkins and more.....

Here is the lovely napkin I have received from Wendy on the XStitch Monthly group for the food themed napkin exchange, she couldn't have picked a better design as I LOVE strawberries, they are the prettiest fruit ever and just cheer me up whenever I see them...they don't half taste good too...especially with a bit of sugar and extra thick cream...lol!

....and here is the napkin I have sent Wendy, a grape on a vine, stitched on a ready made napkin with DMC threads, I used waste canvas for the first time and found it quite simple...I discovered the trick is to tack it on round the edges and through the centre too... I hope Wendy likes it.

Not a great picture as the light is not that good today, but here is the start of the Patchwork birth sample for pink bump...it is on palest pink 28c jobelan evenweave DMC threads, in lilacs, mauves and pinks with a pastel green thrown in for a contrast. I hope to complete it before Martha arrives in November, but the rate I am stitching at the moment I don't hold out much hope...lol.

Finally here is my restarted Papillion Sampler, I decided to challenge myself by doing the speciality stitch version instead and I am enjoying it, it is taking me longer than usual and I have had numerous visits from Mr Frog, but I am perservering....

I have a second date tonight...so I will keep you posted...

Sunday Sunday....

Not a very imaginative title...but never the less is Sunday!! I just found this peony picture and I do love peonies...so it brightens up a somewhat boring post. Also I decided on a change of blog colour too, something more natural.

Well we were up early as a certain young man decided to join me in bed last night...I don't mind on a weekend...we laid and watched cartoons for half and hour before getting up and having some brekkie. Isey has just had a bath and me a shower and I have changed his bed and that is in the washer. I have done the washing up, I have the dishwasher to empty from yesterday (I hardly use it now but it is useful when I have had all and sundry round for tea). I have vacummed round downstairs and tidied, done the recycling and once the washer is done that needs pegging out.

I don't need to do any cooking as I did a huge shepherds pie for us all (Mum, Dad & my niece's came for dinner) last night, plus there was enough to make a small one for us 2, so that's lunch :), just some gravy needed to go with it as it is full of veggies :) there is also a peice of fresh cream sponge left too..yummy:)

I made a good start on my Papillion sampler yesterday, so will carry on with that later, I have decided to challenge myself by stitching the speciality stitch version and after a visit from Mr Frog early on, he seems to have gone back to the pond!! I also want to make a start on a little strawberry pinkeep that appeared in the GOSM this month,

I have ordered some waste canvas from Sew and So for my napking project and 2 peices of fabbie too, one in Wedgewood Blue and one in Pale Pink, as I noticed most of my large peices of fabbies are, beige, cream or naturals...I also ordered some bits and bobs from Johnsons yesterday, including some DMC's as they were on special offer (thanks Julie for the pointer :)).

Tomorrow we have to go to the LGI as Isey has an outpatients appointment to check on his hand and foot, he was born with Polydactyl (extra digits), he has an extra little finger removed when he was 18 months old and a double sized big toe which was at a right angle, which was operated on, but may need more work, so that is why we are going there.

I have my scan on Tuesday...I am now 21 weeks...over halfway, it has gone quickly really, I suppose as I have had so many other things going on. I hope to find out the sex, if baby is playing and not hiding...Isey is also coming in to see baby on the tv too.

Well better go and empty the washer as it has finished...

Stash Selection

Here are a few piccies of the lovely stash I received in the past few days. Yesterday, I received the lovely Carriage House Samplings "The Gingham Dog & The Calico Cat" along with some lovely hand dyed fabbie from Jayne. Then today I have received my DSL order of LHN "Blossoms & Blackbirds", "Ladybug Ladybug" and "Schoolgirl Lessons" as well as Prairie Schooler's "Mary had a little Lamb" and Blackbird Designs " Their Song". The third stash post was from Sew and So and was a Lizzie*Kate Snippets Chart "Bless Our Family" a Judy Whitman Design "Baby Quilt Sampler" and 2 skeins of a new (well new to me, some of you may have seen it before) hand dyed threads "Painter's Threads in Chagall and Lawrence, they are lovely 10m skeins. My Scrapagogo card pack also arrived today...I will have a good look and play with that at the weekend.

My main peice of stash post has not arrived yet, I have ordered a lovely floor standing daylight lamp with chart holder, magnifier & tray on it, they emailed me to say it had been dispatched first class yesterday, but we all know what the RM is like so your guess is as good as mine as to when I will receive it!!

I have managed to do a bit of stitching this week, I made a start on part 3 of the Papillion Sampler....OMG can I get it to line up can I hell, Mr Frog has visited me 3 times on this so far, so I decided to pop it away for a week or so and go back to it with fresh eyes, maybe the error will be more obvious then. I have also made a little progress on my "Book of Stitches" I am about half way through page 2 of 8! I am enjoying stitching this one. No work on L*K SAL though, I really need to organise my rota better.

I have joined the April Monthly Challenge on Jayne's Attic forum, which this month is the Caron Keeper designed by Cynthia Zittel of The Drawn Thread. I haven't made a decision on fabbie and threads yet, but I have decided on my finishing technique on this one...! I have also signed up for the Secret Needleroll Exchange too and have found the design I want to use and again I need to decide on fabbie and threads.

I have been stitching some little gifts too (I can't reveal them to you as the recipients are blog readers!)...so please be patient on these...all will be revealed soon.

Well it is 2pm almost and I intended to tidy my stash cupboard at 10am today...and no I still have not started it...so I am now going to spend an hour on it and filing charts etc...

Snowy Easter Sunday

Happy Easter fellow bloggers on this cold and snowy Easter Sunday morning, this was the sight from my back door at 6am this morning when my DS decided he wanted to get up and see what the Easter Bunny had brought him :0). He had brought him a fluffy lamb and a big Easter Egg from Mummy and Daddy and even more eggs from Grandma & Grandpa and Great Gran & Great-Grandad...so he is one happy bunny too!!

The Easter Bunny must have remembered I am on a diet as I received only one Easter Egg...but it is my Favourite a Cadbury's Creme Egg one...is it just me or does Easter Egg chocolate just taste the best?? My parents bought me an exquisite bead necklace instead of choccie and my Grandparents some lovely smellies....this diet lark is good...lol!!

OH & DS will be going in the garden very soon to build a snowman whilst I start the vegetables for dinner, we usually have our Sunday dinner (when we have one...not that often) at teatime but today I am going to cook it for lunchtime. Not the traditional lamb as both OH and myself don't like lamb so a good old Roast Beef and all the trimmings instead.

Now onto stitching...no finishes to share, I have been plodding through my WIP's this week, I have completed page one of my "Little Book" and made a start on page 2. I am about half way through part 3 of my Papillion Garden, no work this week on L*K Double Flips though. I have made a start on the India Grace Designs Hardanger challenge...it was all going too well with the central design, all the Algerian Eyelets and Kloster Blocks all done and looking great....I then made a start on the blanket stich which was going great ....until....I came to a corner and then I got a total mental block and no matter how many times I looked at the instructions I could not fathom out how to turn the corner....therefore it has gone back in my workbox for a couple of days until I read it again with a fresh mind...it may become clear as mud then!!

I was in need of a finish though...I do get finish withdrawals after a few weeks so I started a L*K snippet last night which is just about finished, I hope to get it done whilst dinner is cooking then I intend to make it up into a pinkeep. I stitched most of it whilst watching Pride and Prejudice last night (the film with Keira Knightley), I didn't enjoy it as much as the series with the delectable Mr Firth, it was all too rushed and crammed and so much was missed out of the story...but it was a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.

I have received some nice stash this past week, some lovely charts from Thread Bear, a couple of Prairie Schooler ornament books and a Bent Creek Blackbird Sampler chart, plus a couple of LHN charts too "Home of a Needleworker" and "The Bookshelf". I have got a couple of others on their way from DSL in the US, but they will take a little longer to arrive.

I also received some lovely hand dyed fabbie from Jayne at JA, the fabbie of the month is Jonquil a lovely lemon/cream colour, a selection of Polstitches Dragon Floss, DD scissors, some hand dyed Polstitches fabbie (Mummies Curse & Heirloom) and perles for my hardanger project. Finally two beautiful handmade beaded scissor fobs from Kay :)

Yesterday I spent 4 hours organising my card stash and putting it into some order as it was such a mess, it made some more room in the drawers so I could transfer non stitching stuff from my stitching stash cabinet, which now means I have more room to organise my stitching stash and more space means more room for new stash...LMAO!!

Wow...I have just realised how long this post it...so I will forgive you if you are snoring my now....

A Weekend of Stitching

I finally made a start on my new project which is "My Little Book of Stitches" a Debbie Draper Design which appeared in the August 2007 edition of the TGOSM. I am not using the recommended threads but decided to use Carrie's Creation threads instead (Black Cherry, Purple, Ultraviolet, Violet & Pacific Blue), I have almost completed the front cover, which is one of eight pages, which when all stitched is made into a concertina book and fastened using ribbon. I fell in love with the design when I saw it, I am stitching it on 28c antique Jobelan, it is a lovely design to stitch and am enjoying it so far.

My personal stitching challenge for 2008 is to attempt Hardanger, which will now become a reality as I have joined the Beginner's Challenge on the India Grace Designs group, it is a complimentary design by Vicki, which can be stitched in our own personal choice of colours. I have decided after over an hours deliberation on the phone with Jayne (from Jayne's Attic) on warm terracotta colours on a hand dyed 28c evenweave, a choice of colours being posted to me to decide which one I like...and the other colours can be returned...emphasis on "can be returned" I know the moment they arrive I will end up keeping them all...lol. I also ordered a new pair of Dinky Dyes scissors too, so more nice stash post in the next few days.

Talking about nice stash post, I received my large order from Six Strand Sweets yesterday which are all lovely, I spent a fair few hours last night bagging and labelling and putting them into the SSS drawer of my stash cabinet, I only need 7 more colours now to complete the set :)I also received some Polstitches Dragon Floss too today from JA, which I am just about to bag and label. So am happy dancing today....:0)

Not decided what tonights stitching is maybe part 3 of the Papillion Garden SAL or some more of my "book", see how I feel after the sausage casserole.

Lazy Sunday...

That's exactly what it is today....a lazy Sunday, a lie in until 8am which believe me is a miracle in this house as the little lord and master is usually awake at 5am...it was 6am today and OH got up with him this morning so I got an extra couple of hours beauty sleep :), then a leisurely breakfast and a checking of my emails and groups before a shower and getting dressed at 11am..so nice.

Above is the picture of my Valentines ornament sent to Elizabeth on the SSS group, she received the ornament yesterday so I can now share a picture of it with you, it was a patchwork heart free chart from www.cross-stitching.com. I stitched it in SSS and made it into a heart shaped hanging ornament.

This is my Papillion Garden SAL, I have now completed part two and I am loving stitching this one, it is on 32c sand Jobelan linen with DMC linen threads, I decided just to do the two colour version as I wanted a really natural coloured look to the sampler, I have also chosen mauve Mill Hill seed beeds to use on the sampler once all the stitching is completed.

This one is for me...most of my stitching is given as gifts to friends and family or for exchanges but this one and the L*K Double Flips are both MINE!!

I am going to be starting a simple but pretty sampler for a mum as a Mother's day gift, in Polstitches Dragon Floss on Antique White 32c Jobelan, as you can probably tell I love using 32c Jobelan, I don't really enjoy stitching on aida anymore, mainly linen and evenweave.

Cheered up my day....

This is the beautiful Valentines Ornament Exchange which I received from Elizabeth on the SSS Group, a gorgeous stitched and beaded ornament, a crochet heart and a pretty card :), it really cheered up my Friday. I really love them all!! Thank you so much Elizabeth.

I finished the stitching on the Jayne's Attic Monthly Challenge peice, now for the finishing...that will be a bit more tricky, I have a couple of ideas, but it is all down to time which I opt for and if I can be hassled to get out the sewing machine....I might have to invest in a mini one for these little items!!

I made good progress on the first part of the Papillion GG sampler SAL I have almost completed part one and I received part two yesterday so can carry straight on, so this will be my saturday stitching, I should be able to complete it by this evening, so look out for photos tomorrow on my blog.

Thursday already?

I don't know where the week has gone, I have been so busy at work this week, as it is the week before half term everyone wants to hold their meetings and training sessions, so it has been manic. Not that should complain I have enormous targets this year so all the £s spend gets me closer.

I have had a busy stitching week too so far, I stitched this little keyring for an exchange on the SSS Group, it is stitched on 32c white Jobelan, 1over 1 in SSS Wildberry Cobler, it was tricky on the eyes but had to be a tiny design to fit in the keyring space. I have made a little headway on my L*K SAL and my Papillion GG SAL, but not as much as I thought I would have.

I finally got around to making up my unplanned blue floral peice into a little cushion, I have no idea if I intend to keep it or give it as a gift. It is my Grans birthday in June and she loves blue so maybe I could give it as part of her present :)

I backed it in some pretty blue rosebud material and used my new invisible thread to attach the cording, which was so much easier than glueing it, I end up making such a mess doing it this way.
I have made a start on the Jayne's Attic Monthly Challenge, it is a gorgeous design and I am using some gorgeous coloured thread, it is looking lovely, I have an idea of how I am going to finish it, I just hope I have the time.

Jeff and I are going away for Valentines to London to vist the Tutankhamen Exhibition at the O2 Bubble, it is the closest I will get to Egypt at the moment. I have been fascinated with Ancient Egypt since I was around 8 years old, I studied a 4 year Diploma in Egyptology, with the intention of finishing it to complete a degree, someday I will qualifiy!! We had booked a holiday to cruise down the Nile and do all the sights, but I fell pregnant so that never materialised...we hope to go for our honeymoon...whenever that will be..lol!!
