UFO’s and a little moan..….

I’m back again for a fleeting visit…..I’m now back in the workforce 17 hours each week, also fitting in 25 hours of study each week, as well as all the other stuff that us lone parents have to do….some days I do struggle as I don’t have anyone else to help me with all the tasks around the house and garden…I will be honest I have been thinking of stopping blogging as I don’t really have much to show, but I will continue just to pop in every so often to say hello….I’ve also stopped reading a lot of blogs, for several reasons…firstly time…or lack of it….secondly these sickly sweet blogs that everyone seems to arse lick…oh sorry swoons over….being honest they make me more fed up and somewhat envious…some of these bloggers live in a bubble of easiness….anyway that’s it…

The little Miss turned 5 last week and celebrated with a Princess party….she has a fabulous time with her friends…

I made cupcakes and a daisy cake…

I’ve made a conscious effort to complete my numerous UFOs over the next year…I had two which were almost complete….well now they are…

Milady’s Needle ‘A Gift From A Friend’, this was gifted to me 2 Christmases ago by Michelle, I started it straight away and stopped as you do….anyway it’s now complete…..

 

Shepherds Bush ‘Sophie’s Roses’ was gifted to me by Barb ages ago I started it and almost completed it…but it’s now done too.

Finally…my young man and his classmates proudly sang in York Minster last week alongside two other schools and the Minster Choristers …

not a great picture, we weren’t given much opportunity….but the cathedral is HUGE…

Monday’s Mutterings

Not a lot of mutterings really, but a few pictures to share….firstly Michelle RAK’d me some lovely WDW and GAST threads…I am very spoilt by my lovely friend :0) thank you Michelle xx

My Mum also spoilt me this week, she went shopping and saw this plate and thought it would be a perfect addition to my new kitchen….and it certainly is!

A little stitchy progress over the weekend, one is a secret stitch so I cannot show any of that, but I managed some work on Prairie Moon Sampler…I don’t think it will be long before this is completed.

and finally….my Valentines gift….to myself…well a single girl of a certain age needs to treat herself now and again doesn't she!

I have a tutorial tomorrow evening, which I am very pleased about I have been struggling with motivating myself and I have another essay to be handed in next Friday, a biggie too…grrrr!

Monday Moans

Grrrr I HATE the snow, yes it is pretty to look at but doing a 2 mile round trip twice a day with a buggy to school is not my idea of fun, my poor arms, shoulders and back are aching now :0(

We had a quiet weekend, I sorted out some cupboards on Saturday and organised my charts into envelope folders and sorted my yarn out, then kitted up a few designs, firstly a gift for my Mum for Mother’s Day, my SAL with Michelle which we start the first Friday of March and a birthday secret stitch. Saturday evening I finished my February Christmas ornament for the SAL over at Christmas All Year Round and also my iStitch Sew Mystery Pin Cushion which watch the modern dramatisation on Ben Hur which I recorded over Christmas.

Yesterday we had a DVD day, I managed some dishcloth knitting and then started the stitching on my Mum’s gift whilst watching `Time Traveller’s Wife’

Prairie Moon Sampler UFO had a little work done on it too (excuse the crumples)

I have started my next study book, which is Cultural Encounters, the first 2 chapters is about Benin in Africa, will make a start on that this evening….

Frosty Friday!

Its cold and frosty here this morning, but lovely and sunny and bright….I have the time to update my blog this morning as my kitchen is currently out of bounds due to the decorator being in there…wallpapering as I type!

I have managed some progress on two of my WIPs and my current UFO, plus I have knitted up another dishcloth.

Firstly my progress on my Witch School Sampler, which I am stitching as my SAL piece for the Sampler Girl SAL over at Needlecraft Haven, I have had quite a slow start on this one….but completed most of the dress on Wednesday evening so I am finally off and running!

Secondly Milady’s Needle “A Gift From A Friend” this chart was gifted to me at Christmas by my wonderful friend Michelle, I stitched this Sunday evening whilst enjoying Call the Midwife and Birdsong.

Tuesday Evening is my UFO stitching evening, I re-started LHN Prairie Moon Sampler, I had forgotten what a lovely stitch it is, I have swapped some of the thread colours around slightly…

I knitted up another dishcloth, I used Lily’s Sugar & Cream cotton yarn…the colours are divine….I will have lots of lovely new dishcloths for my lovely new kitchen :0)

I spend some time researching for my next Uni assignment, it’s a bigger essay this time on one particular subject, something to get my teeth stuck into…as they say. I am struggling where to start on it to be honest but this evening I think I will just start writing and see how I get on, often that’s my trouble it’s just the getting started, once I’m off then it does flow…finger’s crossed anyhow!

I hope to be back sometime early next week, if I don;t get lost under all my notes…lol

As Another Year….

draws to a close….and we plan our New Year’s Resolutions…it’s time to plan another year of stitching..woohoo!!

But before this…here is a picture of a piece I finished stitching a few months ago but had not got around to making it up..

I finished this piece as a cushion with ribbon trim and vintage mother of pearl buttons using a delicate pale green, cream and pink paisley fabric which I had in my stash.

We had a quiet family Christmas this year and my parents joined us for Christmas Lunch, the children had a great time unwrapping and playing with their gifts

  

I also received some lovely gifts from family and friends, perfume, smellies, Take That DVD, stitching goodies, Cath Kidston passport case, lots and lots of chocolate…heartfelt thanks to you all xxx
