Reading with Jane

Phew it’s been a busy week, with back to school and doing 3 return journeys daily with little Miss just being at nursery each morning, I’m sure I will get into a routine very soon, it’s just been a shock to the system…plus I had an essay to write and submit too, so it’s been all go here, even the weekend has been busy trying to catch up once the writing was done.

I did manage to complete a small finish last night, I’ve been doing an hour on this each evening once my daily study had finished…

I think I will finish this into a little hanging for my desk!

Jo emailed to let me know she had received my private exchange piece which I sent to her…and loves it!

‘Signs of Autumn’ – Bent Creek

32c Murano Beige with GAST & WDW threads (own choice)

Finished as a long pillow

I have done a few stripes on my crochet throw…I’ll post a picture of that soon.

My work today has not finished yet, a chicken dinner to cook and devour and then clear up, kids to shower and bags to get ready for tomorrow, then my desk needs a clean and tidy ready for my revising for my exam mid October and I need to find some room for my new module books which have arrived and look fantastic!

Apologies for not leaving comments on blogs, I am so behind, my Google reader had almost 500 posts to catch up on, I’m afraid I had to mark them all as read and I will need to start again…but thank you for your continued reading and commenting on my blog, I really appreciate it!

Have a fab week…

Stitching Progress, Essay Marks, A Gift & Exchanges!

I managed a load of stitching over the weekend on "`Tis the Gift”, I have really enjoyed stitching this piece so far, not sure I will get much more done this week on it though as it’s a busy one, but more of that later on…

Today is Sally’s birthday and I wanted to stitch her a little gift…

Red Winged Blackbird (Sally) 2

Bent Creek “Red Winged Blackbird”

28c Jobelan “Olive” – DMC threads own choice

Sally has emailed me to say she loves it, I am so pleased, hope you have a wonderful day Sally, you deserve it!

I received my mark back for my second assignment and it was a re-write of one part of my first essay plus a reflective commentary, I received a total mark for my first assignment of 60 out of 100 (28 of those for the essay I had to re-write) I was pleased with this score as it was more first academic written piece for 22 years…but I have to say I am cock-a-hoop at my second assignment score of 82! so all the work and hours I am putting in are paying off. It’s poetry week this week, I have a tutorial tomorrow evening followed by Christmas drinkies with my fellow students…so looking forward to that!

You can see why my week is busy, studying this evening, Martha’s trial morning at nursery school & tutorial tomorrow evening, baking Wednesday for Isaac’s Christmas party on Thursday and the school Christmas Nativity performance in the evening, Isaac is a villager and has a speaking part too…Friday is the last day of school until January 4th so I want to get all the wrapping done so that little eyes cannot peek!

Finally exchanges….I have stopped all the big exchange groups now, but I do miss exchanging with fellow stitchers, so in 2012 I would like to do some private exchanges with stitching friends old and new. I would like to do 4 of these throughout the year (March, June, September & December)…this would be just a stitched piece exchange not lots of extras as I am aware of the postal costs rising up and up. If you would be interested in exchanging with me in private please leave a comment on this post stating which month would interest you and also leave your email address so I can contact you. I will do a draw if I have a number of exchangers for one particular month, I may even exchange with 2 people each round. I will do the draw  in a weeks time on 19th December.

I do hope that you would like to join me on this…

Oh and just one more picture of little Miss Poser…

Joyous Noel

SDC11015

I was on the ball and early with my December ornament for the Christmas Ornament SAL on the Stitch & Stash board, this is the only SAL I have managed to stick to throughout the year…so my tree will have lots of lovely stitched ornaments on it this weekend when I put it up.SDC11014

It is Bent Creek’s “Joyous Noel” which is stitched on 32c Murano in Ivory with the recommended DMC threads, it’s backed with the fabric shown and made into a hanging ornament.

Not a lot going on here, I received my first LHN Ornament chart from DSL so have just kitted and started stitching that, I am not using the DMC recommended threads, I have decided to use SSS instead for a change and a different look.

I have also made a start on BBD “Your Song” my aim is to complete it by 31st December….can you see them pigs flying…lol!!

I am waiting on an order of cotton yarn to knit up some washcloths after being inspired by Staci, I am a bad knitter but I thought this would be good practice and I will just be able to pick it up and do a couple of rows when I have a spare 5 minutes. I ordered the yarn last Monday and it was posted out last Wednesday…but still has not arrived, the sender cannot report it missing for another week, so I just have to wait….”sigh”…so annoying really as my fingers are itching to get them needles clacking!!

Have a good day all…
